Narrow sidewalk, 1987

In this photo from 1987, we continue westbound along the narrow sidewalk. The sign describes a hazard for motorcyclists and a cogent reason for bicyclists to use the sidewalk: the steel grid deck of the roadway of the bridge (right background). A grid deck can be treacherous for bicyclists, especially when wet. This sidewalk has been substantially widened as of 2008.
